Metering that understands the whole energy flow

At the heart of the solution is our twin-element single-phase Em-lite meter.

This is a MID-certified billing meter with two independent measuring elements. One measures solar generation from the inverter, while the other measures household load and grid interaction.

This enables the platform to distinguish between:

• Grid export
• Solar generation
• Solar utilisation
• Battery charging from the grid
• Battery discharge
• Day and night grid consumption

Combined with half-hourly profiling, this creates a detailed picture of how energy is generated, consumed, stored and exported.

For a residential PPA, that visibility is fundamental.

Billing, prepayment and debt control

Topupmeters can operate the resident account on a prepayment basis, allowing energy charges to be collected automatically as energy is consumed.

Alternatively, the platform can provide detailed consumption and tariff data to an external billing service.

Prepayment does not necessarily have to be the default arrangement. It can also be used selectively for debt recovery or debt limitation, helping asset owners control exposure while maintaining continuity of service.
