Did you know Topupmeters is more than just electric meters? We also offer a solution for recovering charges for water usage.

How the Wireless System Works

The integration is smart but remarkably straightforward. It works by connecting the water meter directly to your Topup electric smart meter.

  • Pulse Generation: Water meters equipped with a pulse connection point generate a distinct "pulse" for every single litre of water that flows through them.
  • Wireless Transmission: A specialised pulse sender connects to this lead. This sealed device, equipped with a reliable 5-year battery, counts the pulses and wirelessly transmits the data to a nearby Topup electric meter every 15 minutes.
  • Automatic Deduction: The electric meter then applies the programmed water tariff to the usage data and automatically deducts the cost from the user's available balance.

A Win-Win for Landlords and Residents

This unified system offers distinct advantages for everyone involved.

For Landlords and Asset Managers: You can monitor water usage exactly the same way you monitor electricity, plus all the controls for setting water pricing and standing charges to recover those costs entirely.

For Residents: Residents can easily see exactly what their water is costing them. Even better, they only need to top up a single wallet balance that covers both utilities. No need for separate payments.

Continuous Supply, Zero Interruptions

Because water is an essential service, the system is designed so that residents are never left without it. If a resident's balance runs out, their water supply continues to flow. The system simply accumulates a debt for the water used during that time, which is then automatically paid off from their very next top-up.

While this prepay water solution is highly effective, there are some technical prerequisites regarding installation. Speak to us to discuss your options and how else water charges might be recoverable if this is not a good fit.
